Model United Constituencies
A Performance and Critical Debate
Table Manners

Model United Constituencies was a performance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The student performers engaged in a critical debate around resource extraction and geontopower, the power of and over Nonlife beings. During this session, the continued excavation of Sand in the State of Kerala, India was discussed. The constituents that joined were a Fisherman, a Sea Turtle, the imagined owner of the Cherian Varkey Construction company, a Mangrove Tree, a Catla Indian Carp, a Sand Miner, and of course, Sand itself. The policy resolution, “S.E.A.S.H.O.R.E.”, which stands for “Sand Excavation And Shoreline Habitat Organization that Respects Everyone,” was enacted during the discussion.
